Howard Street Historical Walk - Part I

The registration for yesterdays History Walk was at 1643 W Howard. The line was about a ten minute wait - my sign in number was 404. I stopped after the walk and a volunteer explained that they started two sheets due to the number of people and he chose a random number beginning at 400. He was tallying the numbers and said more than 200 people signed up for the walk.

Here are some of the sepia prints that were displayed at the registration site.

Jonathon Dixon, President of the Rogers Park/West Ridge Historical Society, greeted people at the Broadmoor Hotel. The collage behind him gave the rich history of this once grand hotel and the bustling economic atmosphere of Howard Street in another era.
