Onions and Spitballs

From the Sun-Times:

"Blum is a business associate of Christopher Kelly — a former adviser, campaign fund-raiser and friend of ousted Gov. Rod Blagojevich. The federal grand jury that continues to investigate Blagojevich has subpoenaed three state agencies seeking records on any contracts Blum and his companies were awarded under Blagojevich."

Innocent Until Proven Guilty - or so it is said. Here we have a law put in place by public servants, and a contractor who allegedly bypassed it many times. With every level of the blatant corruption of Blago et al, the taxpayers can snort and begin to fume. Again, what is the point and purpose of a law that isn't being enforced? The building commission should be checking up on these multi-million dollar contract awards to ensure tax dollars are being spent according to the law they and others created. Is it too much work to request the subcontractors names on the permits?

Blum has raked in how many contracts at how many million for how many years and no one noticed and no one checked? Or is it that no one had to notice until those who looked away felt the heat of being exposed as sitting in the same corrupt scenario? One fact is certain -the taxpayers paid for the public buildings and now the taxpayers will foot the bill for the legal proceedings.

Blum is just one layer - keep peeling the onion. If it's a silly law - then repeal it - just as dropping the ban on spitting in the public way. Now everyone spits!
