"It looks like the steel has arrived all the way from Hell’s half acre. There was a contingent of trucks cuing up at the Community Center this morning.
Does this mean that they will actually start some serious work?"
Yes, my neighbor, it appears to be the real thing at long last! I noticed the steel last week but waited for action. Sorry, but I can't access the blog from work. But later is better than never. Thanks for the email.
Hmmmmmm. Compare the pace of this project and the pace of the Howard Station (the luxury apartment buildings going up on the Evanston side). Our people are getting stuff done!
SE - The Evanston side of Howard project started from the planning stages to where it is now about 2-3 years ago. 'Our people' on the City side of the street had nothing much to do with it. It's Evanston's planning.
The Field House - in Ward 49, City of Chicago - was a concept which after multiple blunders - has taken over 10 years to get the beams up. Yes, it's getting done finally, but not without many detours.
To be clear, neither the City of Chicago or the 49th Ward Alderman, had anything, nada, to do with the planning, development or currently underway construction of the Howard Station, 17 story highrise on the Evanston side of Howard. That's why it's getting done as timely as it is, thanks to Alderwoman Ann Rainey and the City of Evanston.
