Mr. Coe's having some difficulties on Morse keeping the fence up. His properties North of Howard aren't in the construction phase just yet. They're still in the destruction phase of development. The first photo is the rear of the old dry cleaners with two doors wide open - unsecured. The second shot is the Rogers side of the boarded-up gangway between Rogers and Howard. Well, let's say the Howard side is secure. The Rogers side has been pried loose.

Since this is not a well-lit area, it's the kind of place where certain exchanges take place.

This tire trash and an old leather jacket are stuffed in a stairwell area on Rogers.

Walking that block is not the scenic route to the Fruit and Vegetable Market.

Coe's real good at tearing 'em down, worse at building, and even worse at selling.
I wonder if Coe is going to be able to get that bldg on Howard financed in this cruddy climate?
It will take him longer than he thinks no matter what. I sure as hell wish someone else was building the attractive building depicted in the rendering we were shown at that meeting in December.
If we get lucky, he will sell the property and drawn plans to a more experienced and competent developer who can more easily get financed. I sense that he has financial problems.
Projects are being cxl'd allover the place. Friend of mine got his deposit back on the condo he committed to buy in a high rise that was to have been built at Lawrence & Winthrop. It was supposed to have been finished by now, but it is still a cracked parking lot now.
Amazing thing is that so many conversions are still being done around here, but they can at least be priced lower than new construction.
If you get time, check out the incredible 3-flat that is being built at 1223 W. Jarvis. The architecture is gorgeous and the quality is truly incredible- it is like it is 1920 and you are watching our great vintage places go up. Fine wood windows with real wood mullions, very high quality. Beautiful brickwork. Triple- brick construction, being built very painstakingly. It will, of course, cost accordingly- I hear the units will be priced at around $600K. It's fun to watch something this good being built and I can't wait to see if the interior finishing is as good as the exterior.
