Crashed and Clipped

Here are a couple of scoops from a new reader, the Triangle Connection:

There was a little more excitement at about 3:35 this morning - I'm sure
you must have heard it. A squealing of tires and then several crashes.
Appears as though a car plowed over a stop sign at the corner of Paulina
and Jonquil and then did major damage to the metal fence.

Crash?

Clipped at the base

I didn’t see any evidence this morning of broken car parts. Do you think this was a drunk driver or more retaliation/property damage? I noticed that it appears as though there will be some type of memorial where the young man was shot at Paulina and Jonquil. I read the note several times, appeared as though it was in English, but I couldn't understand the words.

Apparent Drug Bust 8/30/05

There was an apparent drug bust directly in front of my condo building -
on Tues Aug 30 at approximately 6:30 PM. Two young men
in a blue van were stopped by two police cars (the four officers were
women) coming in the opposite direction. They were joined by a black
unmarked car (Northpoint security?) and a male officer in a white shirt, I
don't know his rank.

The officers handcuffed both young men, searched them, put them in the
patrol car, but later uncuffed one to drive the van. One young man had
what appeared to be a "roll of cash" which the officer put back into his
pants pocket. An officer brought a garbage bag from the van and put it in
the trunk of the patrol car.

I had a ringside seat since my unit overlooks the courtyard and street. I
wouldn't like to have relatives visit and have this happen!!

Concerning all the litter mentioned in one of your postings - drinking
alcohol (a beer bottle qualifies) on the street is still illegal? You
wouldn't know it around this neighborhood. Not to mention the activities in Triangle Park, but a group of men regularly gather around the community garden at the corner of Hermitage and Paulina leaving their trash behind.

We take pride in our building - and the grounds are regularly cleaned of huge quantities of trash, sometimes people just open car doors and dump it out. Also, broken bottles on the sidewalks are not only a nuisance, but dangerous. There are a number of young children in a building just south of our condo.

My bedroom window overlooks the new playlot and I have had to call the police several times because of noise made by unsupervised young people after 9:00 PM and as late as 10:00 PM. Where are the parents?

Thanks TC, good stories. Yes, I had relatives here two weekends ago. My son-in-laws mother with her soft South Carolina drawl said 'my word, I think I've just witnessed my first drug deal'. She described what she saw from the window, and she was right on.

Where are the parents? Either they don't know or they don't care. Some are children themselves...still trying to grow up. Many are unprepared for the responsibilities and realities of REAL parenthood.
